Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh

A drop in centre, which aims to offer practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer.

The Macmillan information and support centre, based at the Western General hospital, Edinburgh is for anyone affected by cancer whether you are a patient, family member, friend or carer. We are here for you from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond. We want you to feel supported, listened to and understood. You can talk to someone in confidence about anything concerning you and we will ensure you have access to the services you need.

We offer a range of support services which include:

Information on living with cancer, treatment and side effects.

Face to face benefit and financial advice

Complementary therapy

Signposting to support services locally and nationally

Emotional support including one to one appointments with an experienced cancer nurse specialist

Practical information on topics such as work, travel, insurance and relationships

Some of information is available in different formats and languages and we have access to a telephone interpreting service if required.

The centre is manged by an experienced cancer nurse specialist supported by volunteers.

You can drop into the centre between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday (hours may be subject to change)
