Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS)

Care is offered at either Rachel or Robin House, and through our CHAS at Home and CHAS into Hospital Teams. It’s usually planned, but often happens in emergency situations too – in response to a call from care professionals or families.

From birth up to 18 years old, we offer care for many life-shortening conditions. And, with close links to every neonatal and paediatric unit in Scotland, we aim to fully involve professionals from these units at all times. At Rachel House

Rachel House

Rachel House, in Kinross, is a 'home from home' for families. It has a range of facilities including a hydrotherapy room, large accessible garden and lots of areas for relaxing and fun. It also has areas for reflection, bereavement support and care.

Robin House

Robin House, in Balloch, is a 'home from home' for families. It has a range of facilities including a hydro pool, art room, den and large accessible garden and lots of areas for relaxing and fun. It also has quiet areas for reflection, bereavement support and care. Here are some of the friendly faces you will meet there.

In hospital

Diana Children's Nurses work alongside NHS staff, and with other care staff, to provide clinical leadership and support in the planning and delivery of palliative care. By working together, families can have a greater choice of care about where and how their child can be cared for, whether it’s in hospital, at home or in a CHAS hospice.

In your home

Our CHAS at Home team care for children and young people in their own homes across Scotland in between hospice visits or when they are too ill to travel.

We provide nursing care that meets the individual needs of your child, including medication and feeds. Our nursing teams are highly skilled in looking after children with exceptional health care needs, such as those who use a ventilator.

Generally the support is short term but it is regularly assessed to ensure it meets the needs of each individual family. For families who live in isolated areas in particular, the service is a lifeline.
