The Specialist Health and Work team is experienced in health and work issues, particularly for those who have been affected by cancer. The service supports those who are remaining in work, returning to work or looking for a new job. We also provide a range of psychological support services.
We provide support to help people stay in their current job or when returning to work. They can be given advice and guidance through every stage. Here are a few ways we can help:

Adjusting to working life after cancer (Online) Date: Wednesday 20th May Time: 1pm-2.30pm
During this workshop, our Counselling Psychologist Marta and one of our SHAW practitioners will lead you in exploring the difficult physical and mental challenges of returning to work following a cancer diagnosis and look at different tools and techniques which can help in the transition back to working life.
Being a carer while balancing work (Online) Date: Friday 12th June Time: 11am-12pm
This workshop is designed for individuals who are juggling the emotional and practical challenges of caring for a loved one with cancer, while also managing the demands of their employment. During the workshop we will explore employers' responsibilities when it comes to supporting carers, as well as identifying practical tools for your own self care.

Practitioners from our Specialist Health and Work Service help re-build the confidence and resilience that can be lost following a diagnosis of cancer and associated treatment through various self-management techniques.
Our practitioners can also provide workbooks and leaflets to help manage stress and anxiety. In addition to this, the team has extensive knowledge of related supports available in local communities.

Beatson Cancer Charity help to empower and enable employers to manage and support an employee affected by cancer.
With support from the Scottish Government’s Workplace Equality Fund, Impact Funding Partners and NHS GGC, Beatson Cancer Charity has worked with Marks & Spencer, Arnold Clark, Tesco Bank, Ten Live and Fish to Water HR on the “We’re with you at Work” employer toolkit to address cancer in the workplace.
