Beatson Cancer Charity - Group Support

At Beatson Cancer Charity we believe that no-one should face cancer on their own. This has always been our aim and we will work hard to continue to support even more people and families in the years to come.

Our Group Programmes

The group programmes consist of two separate groups which aim to support participants who face the challenges and worries associated with a cancer diagnosis.

Fear of Recurrence (6 weeks)

  • The Fear of Recurrence group programme is for those who have experienced fear of their cancer returning, which can have a significant impact on mood, work, relationships, or enjoyment of life.
  • The Fear of Recurrence programme has previously been offered to those with a breast cancer diagnosis and we are delighted to be able to expand this to be offered to all cancer types, as part of the NLCF funding.

Living with Uncertainty (4 weeks)

  • The Living with Uncertainty group programme is for those living with cancer and facing the challenges of how to live alongside the uncertainty that it brings. It helps people live a life meaningful to them, while living with the uncertainty of cancer.

Beatson’s group programmes are open to anyone with a diagnosis of cancer. The group programmes:

  • Use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based approach, to encouraging living well and meaningfully, in align with your own values alongside the distress caused by cancer.
  • Last for 4/6 weeks, with participants attending one 2-hour session per week.
  • Have a maximum of 10 participants per group.
  • Are run either in-person or virtually via Zoom by a Psychologist and facilitator.
