Evelyn has stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer and decided to do a sponsored hair shave to raise money for our charity.
In search for support, Evelyn applied for one of our free comfort boxes via our online form and we were pleased to be able to provide her with a box full of practical and thoughtful items to support her on her journey. The items included a digital in ear thermometer for regular temperature checking, a notebook and pen to organise thoughts and appointments, a deluxe blanket to keep Evelyn warm throughout her treatment and many more useful products.
With her chemotherapy starting on 13th December, Evelyn decided to do her hair shave on the 28th December at Cody Shaws in Mussleburgh. Evelyn said:
" I'm going to be doing a hair shave on 28th December before all my hair falls out due to the Chemotherapy, which I start on Friday 13th December.
I am doing this to raise money for Cancer Card, an amazing charity that gives great support to me and my family, they gave me a Cancer Card comfort box to help me get through my Chemotherapy adventure. I want to thank my partner and my family and friends whom have been supporting me through this horrendous Cancer. I will not be giving into this illness I promise to fight it all the way."
We were so delighted that Evelyn seemed to get so much out of our comfort box that she decided to do a sponsored hair shave on the 28th December to raise money for our charity so that we can provide more comfort boxes to people diagnosed with cancer and she hopes that they too will feel the joy she did of receiving the gift.
Evelyn's generosity and bravery is an inspiration to us all and we are proud to say that she smashed her fundraising target and raised over £1,300 for our charity. This significant contribution will help us donate 26 comfort boxes to cancer patients in Scotland bringing a message of warmth and hope as they begin their treatment. Thank you so much, Evelyn. On behalf of everyone here at Cancer Card we wish you all the best with your treatment.
