Cancer Card advocates for disability benefits awareness

Cancer Card is leading efforts to raise awareness about disability benefits available to cancer patients in Scotland. In a recent interview with Social Security Scotland, founder of Cancer Card, Jen Hardy MBE shared how Adult Disability Payment has helped offset the additional expenses she's faced since her cancer diagnosis.

Navigating the disability benefits system with cancer can be incredibly overwhelming. The complex paperwork and application processes are a significant burden for those already drained. Additionally, a cancer diagnosis often comes with unexpected financial challenges. In response, the organisation has partnered with Social Security Scotland to encourage cancer patients to explore and apply for financial support they may be eligible to receive.

"We know that cancer is expensive to have," a spokesperson for Cancer Card stated. "Many people worry about the financial impact of their diagnosis, which is why we're working to connect patients with available resources."

This initiative aims to simplify the process of accessing disability benefits for cancer patients, potentially easing some of the financial strain associated with treatment and recovery.
